Multiplexes nationwide were evacuated and desolate over the weekend as Hollywood threatened cinemas with multiple box office bombs.
This is the Monday Box Office.
Tyler Perry’s Boo 2! A Madea Halloween was number one at the the box office this weekend as Tyler Perry reprised his role as Madea in order to show us why cross dressing comedy should remain a dead art form. Though Perry and his crew shouldn’t get too excited: the movie only made $21.65 million of its $25 million budget back and has yet to make a profit which doesn’t bode well for the rest of the new releases
The disaster movie Geostorm, a name that should not be confused with Geoporn (which is pornography where men drop their trousers and bone a hole in the ground), is number deuce on the box office take with a flaccid $13.7 million domestic and $52.1 million foreign with a total gross of $65.8 million on an estimated budget of $120 million.
A disaster movie indeed.
Numbers three and four on the box office list are Happy Death Day and Blade Runner 2049 respectively. Happy Death Day‘s worldwide box office has grown to $53.6 million which is impressive considering that the film’s budget was a minuscule $4.8 million, and Blade Runner 2049‘s profit margin has finally moved into the green as its worldwide haul has improved to $194 million on a $150 million budget. That’s not necessarily a success or anything: it’s barely a profit at all, but it’s still better than being labeled as a box office bomb.
Number five on the list is Only The Brave which had a pitiful box office take of $6 million on a $38 million budget. Thankfully, the movie has trained firefighters on hand to quell the flames caused by this bomb.
